Need help getting around campus? Here is a link to the Campus Map
There are a few main locations for the meeting listed below.
The Orchard Conference center, labelled OC on the map in section E2, is where we will have all meals, the reception, all lunches, all coffee breaks, awards banquet, and sponsor exhibition.
Kurland Lecture Hall, labelled LA on the map in section E1, is where we will have all conference presentations.
Chaparral Hall, labelled CR on the map in section F3, is where we will have all workshops and SIMS school presentations.
If you purchased a parking pass during registration or from our site you are allowed to park in student parking lots. You are not allowed to park in the parking structures! Surface lots G3 and B1 are the closest. Remember do not park in an employee or faculty spaces or you will be ticketed and potentially towed.
To pick up your pass we will have them at the registration desk or at the on campus housing.
If you are taking an Uber to campus the best location to provide is Chaparral Hall and they should drop you off just across the street from the Orchard Conference center.
The cheapest and most convenient option to get to Northridge from LAX is to take the Van Nuys Flyaway bus, then take a Taxi or Uber from the Van Nuys bus terminal. The Flyaway bus leaves LAX every 20 min and there is a pick up location at every terminal. *If you arrive during a busy time (between 2-6 pm) I recommend walking to terminal 2 or 3 as the bus picks up there first and may fill up at that time of day.
A schedule for the Flyaway can be found on their site. Tickets are $12.75 and can be bought in advance on their mobile app which can be found on their website. A one-way ticket can be purchased on the bus using your Visa/Mastercard contactless credit or debit card, or Apple Pay and Google Pay. Cash and non-contactless cards are not accepted. A taxi from Van Nuys to CSUN is typically $20 depending on time of day. Make sure to get on the bus to VAN NUYS, there is another flyaway bus that goes to Union Station which is on the other side of town!
A taxi from LAX to CSUN will typically cost $80-100 and can be even higher during rush hour.
Every day during the workshop (Sunday though Thursday) lunch will be provided for all registered attendees. On Sunday morning for the SIMS school we will have some pastries in addition to coffee from 8-9 am.
During coffee breaks we will have coffee tea and ice water available. Feel free to bring your own water bottle to fill at drinking fountains that are located throughout the University.
We will provide light hors d'oeuvres during the Sunday reception and during the Tuesday Poster session.
Wednesday is the awards dinner which will be provided to all registered attendees.
If you purchased a companion pass they are welcome to join us at the awards dinner and reception.
During the Sunday reception, Tuesday poster session, and Wednesday awards dinner each registered guest and companion will be provided with two drink tickets good for soda, juice, beer, wine, champagne, or cocktails. A cash bar will also be available.
The on campus housing is located by the F9 parking lot on the north end of campus. You can check in at the Student Housing Administration building located at G9 on the map.
If you are taking an Uber or Taxi you can use CSUN Student Housing office or CSUN Dorms building 6 as the drop off point. See the red star on the map below. Here is a specific address to provide them if either of the two above do not work: 17950 Lassen St, Northridge CA. The blue circle shows the building we will be in.
Check in
When you arrive, please come to the Conference Services building. If you take a look at the map attached, we are located where the red star is. We are right next to building 6, which is on Lassen Street.
Check-in times go until 8 pm where they will have regular staff on site. If you are arriving after 8 pm we can still check you in to the housing, just please let me know so I can inform their staff to be available to assist. I will also be on site so you can call me on my cell 651-214-4336 if you have any issues.
If you are driving to the campus, you can park in F9, which is circled in red on the map. After you park, please come into the Conference Services building to collect your parking pass from us and then return to your vehicle straight away to put the parking pass on display. Once the parking pass is on display, please return to the Conference Services building to complete the check-in process. CSUN’s parking enforcement regularly checks the lots and we want to avoid your vehicle getting marked whilst you are talking with us.
If you are taking a taxi you can put in CSUN Student Housing office as the drop off point (works on Uber for me).
The parking pass should always be displayed. The parking pass is shaped like a hanger (it goes over the front mirror), so please make sure when closing the vehicle door that it does not accidently blow away.
We will all be staying in building 4, the closest parking lot is E9, which is circled in blue on the map
Those of you with a keen eye will notice we are right next to the pool. We are allowed to use any of the public facilities including the pool! As I understand there are only two small groups (including us) using the facility during this week, so it might be a good opportunity to use the pool if you are so inclined.
